As a specialist primary educator, I offer tutoring in all primary subjects but most of my tutoring is in primary maths and English (phonics, reading, writing and grammar). I can also develop their scientific knowledge and skills and teach history, geography, RE, music and PSHE.

In addition, as an English graduate, I love to share my love of literature and our language and I also offer tutoring in KS3 and KS4 English.

I seek to get to know each student and will personalise each tutoring session based on each student's learning style and needs. I also keep open conversations between parents/ carers and support each student in their current learning, focusing on what parents/ carers require but also where I recognise a need, I will share it with parents/ carers.

I have a PGCE in Primary Education, giving me qualified teacher status. I have experience as a classroom teacher in both large and small primary schools within the local area and have also tutored children who are currently being educated in alternative provisions.

Each session is different based on the needs of each child and how they prefer to learn. I spend time during the first session getting to know my students but this will evolve as I get to know them better. 

I try to make each session engaging and fun but also ensuring that there is purpose in all that we do.

Individual sessions are different to group sessions where we can learn from each other as well as what I have to offer.

Tutoring allows a child to learn at a pace that suits them and not to be rushed on until their understanding is secure. For some, practical learning helps and we can apply the learning in many different ways until we find the right approach or strategy for your child.

For some, a classroom can make a child feel stressed or anxious and learning in a home or a quiet space at school can make it more accessible for them. Maybe they find they can learn in small chunks and we can break up the learning for them or give regular breaks.

I have been able to strengthen the basic skills that children need to  be at age-related standards but for some, they need stretching and I can help to deepen their understanding beyond the expected level for their age.
